Tehran says US naval blockade created ‘exceptional’ wartime conditions

TEHRAN — The US naval blockade imposed on Iran created “exceptional and unique” conditions for managing the country during the war, Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian said Saturday.He detailed damage to critical infrastructure and the impact of intensified sanctions.Speaking on a television program, Motamedian said Iran had faced mounting economic sanctions alongside attacks on infrastructure and restrictions at sea during the US-Israeli war, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).“The blockade imposed on our country in the maritime domain meant that managing the country took place under truly exceptional and unique conditions,” he said.Motamedian said Tehran was a major focus of US-Israeli attacks during the conflict, with electricity, water, telecommunications and gas infrastructure sustaining damage.More than 1,200 electricity infrastructure sites across Tehran province were targeted during the war, he said, adding that authorities were able to restore services within a short period.Water infrastructure was also damaged and subsequently repaired, while telecommunications and gas networks were affected by the attacks, he added.Motamedian said sanctions again
