Forget guardrails, Trump says all the AI industry needs is a smart president

On Monday, Trump called out Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei by name. Amodei recently said frontier AI labs should "pace" their development of future models. On Monday, President Donald Trump lashed out at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei after Amodei published an essay urging a slowdown in global frontier AI development. "The Trump Administration has stopped AI 'people' from doing bad, or potentially bad, 'things,' like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a 'perfect little angel' - and we will continue to do so!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump repeated his long-held belief that the US needs little regulation of the industry, especially with him in charge. "The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!" Trump wrote.
