PAMRA launches ‘Mandi Mart’ project in three cities

LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture Marketing Regulatory Authority (PAMRA) has formally launched its flagship “Mandi Mart” project in Kahna Kacha, Multan and Faisalabad, Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr Kiran Khurshid said on Friday. She said that, on the special directions of the Punjab Chief Minister, PAMRA’s reform initiatives were progressing rapidly, with efforts underway to modernize agricultural markets across the province. Dr Khurshid said the draw for the allocation of plots to eligible candidates in Phase-I of Kahna Kacha Market would be held on September 10, 2026. She said the initiative would provide the business community with modern facilities. She added that beautification and development work was underway at Lahore’s Badami Bagh Fruit and Vegetable Market. Construction of a state-of-the-art Pharri Shed was also in progress, with a capacity of more than 400 stalls. The shed is being developed under a “Facilitation Rental Model”, which, according to the secretary, would particularly benefit small traders.
