Algeria: Tebboune Orders Penal Code Amendment to Execute Arsonists

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stressed on Sunday the necessity of amending the penal code to enact and enforce the death penalty against intentional arsonists before September 15. Tebboune's decision comes in the wake of massive wildfires that broke out in numerous regions across northeastern Algeria, which resulted in several deaths, destroyed crops, and killed a large number of livestock.
