India's air transport sector is one of the fastest-growing and developing sectors in the country, marked by record aircraft orders and the construction of over 70 airports in 10 years, making India, within a decade, the world's third-largest market for air travel after China and the United States. This remarkable growth was the result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy responding to demand from the middle class, which prefers air travel over train travel. This growth has attracted foreign investment and prestigious aviation companies such as Airbus, but to meet these needs, the country is also working on training a large number of pilots, expected to exceed 35,000 by 2035.
