Pezeshkian says Iran is in ‘full-scale economic, military and security war’
TEHRAN — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that Iran is facing a “full-scale economic, military and security war,” as his government seeks to navigate mounting economic pressure and stalled negotiations with the United States.“We are in a full-scale economic, military and security war,” Pezeshkian said in a televised speech carried by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.The Iranian president acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the country, saying the government was “ashamed” that such problems persisted.“Trump easily says that they will impose the most crushing or the most terrible sanctions on Iran,” Pezeshkian said, referring to US President Donald Trump.He said Tehran was “standing firm” and working to serve the Iranian people despite what he described as an “unequal war.”Pezeshkian also argued that Iran had defied expectations that mounting pressure would destabilize the country.“The enemy had assessed that if Iran falls, it will become Venezuela.
