IT, communication stocks drag Sri Lankan shares lower
Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Tuesday, led by losses in information technology and communication services stocks. The CSE All-Share index settled down 0.64% at 21,479.07. Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC and Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All-Share index, falling 6.7% and 6.2%, respectively. Trading volume on the index rose to 80.2 million shares from 45.5 million in the previous session. The equity market’s turnover rose to 2.04 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($6.15 million) from 1.89 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data. Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 648.8 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.99 billion rupees, the data showed.
