India stretch lead to 294 against Sri Lanka in Galle Test

India reached 116-4 at lunch on Tuesday for an overall lead of 294 on day four of the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. India claim a first-innings lead of 178 after bowling out Sri Lanka for 284. Sri Lanka seamer Asitha Fernando dismissed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a three-ball duck in India’s second innings. Left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya claimed the wickets of opener KL Rahul (35) and India captain Shubman Gill (8). Debutant off-spinner Keshar Nuwantha trapped Devdutt Padikkal lbw for 44. Sri Lanka 99-5 in reply to India’s 462 Rishabh Pant (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (5) will resume batting after lunch break. India are looking to score quickly, to secure enough time in the rain-marred Test to try and force a result. ‑Reuters

ISPR rejects Indian documentary as ‘propaganda’, says battlefield record cannot be rewritten

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday rejected an Indian documentary portraying Operation Sindoor as a military success, calling it a “highly dramatised” and “factually inaccurate” attempt to rewrite the events of the May 2025 conflict. In a statement, the military’s media wing said the documentary used selectively edited interviews, emotional narration and cinematic Bollywood-style reconstruction to present a version of events aimed at creating a “domestically palatable” narrative. “For its lack of nuance and seriousness, the documentary can be characterised as a tragedy and a comedy at the same time,” it stated. The ISPR said the documentary contained what it described as fundamental contradictions, particularly over the timeline surrounding the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor. The statement questioned India’s claim that Operation Sindoor was carried out to punish those responsible for the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam incident. It noted that India later claimed the three alleged perpetrators were identified and killed on July 28 – 82 days after the launch of Operation Sindoor. “If the alleged perpetrators were eliminated on July 28, India must explain who it cla

Trump leans on India’s election playbook in push to change how Americans vote

US President Donald Trump cited India’s election system as a model for the US, bringing the world’s largest democracy into a contentious American debate over voter access and election security. Trump said the identification requirements make elections secure and pressed Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register for federal elections and photo identification to vote. The measure has stalled in the Senate as Trump and his Republican allies push for...

Over 9 terrorists killed in Balochistan IBOs: state media

QUETTA: Security forces have killed more than nine terrorists in intelligence-based operations (IBO) in Balochistan, state media reported on Tuesday. The operations were conducted in Ziarat, Harnai and Surab under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna 3, according to Pakistan TV, which said that arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces after the operation, according to a statement issued by his ministry on X. “The interior minister commended the professional capabilities of the security forces for sending more than nine terrorists of Fitna-al-Hindustan to hell,” it added. The statement further quoted Naqvi as saying that operations against Fitna-al-Hindustan and Fitna-al-Khawarij were under way with full force and will continue. Tuesday’s operations are the latest in a string of actions being taken as Balochistan continues to grapple with security challenges. The state uses the term Fitna-al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and has designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna-al-Hindustan to highlight India’s alleged role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan. On Monday, two terror

FO rejects Indian home minister's 'baseless assertions' linking arrests with Pakistan

The Foreign Office (FO) rejected on Monday the Indian home minister’s “baseless assertions” linking certain arrests in his country to Pakistan, describing his allegations as another demonstration of New Delhi’s “malicious campaign” against Islamabad. While the FO statement did not specifically mention any remarks by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, it was issued after Shah claimed on X that the Indian government had “destroyed” an allegedly Pakistan-backed terrorist group, arresting scores of its operatives. He alleged that the group had backing from Pakistan. The FO said Pakistan “strongly rejects the allegations made by India’s home minister, attempting to link Pakistan with certain arrests in India”. “Such propaganda is yet another demonstration of India’s malicious campaign against Pakistan to divert attention from its domestic security challenges and to blame Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains,” the FO statement said. It added that at home, India was a “repressive state, brutally oppressing its minorities and silencing dissent”, while “externally, India is exporting terror and abetting terrorists”. It further stated: “Unfounded Indian insinuations cannot divert intern

ISPR slams India's 'Bollywood-style' documentary projecting last year's 'military blunder as a successful endeavour'

The military’s media affairs wing on Tuesday slammed India’s “Bollywood-style” documentary on its ‘Operation Sindoor’, saying it had “cobbled together a propaganda video to project a military blunder as a successful endeavour”. In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “More than a year after Marka-i-Haq, India refuses to face the harsh reality. Instead of conceding defeat in a failed venture, India has decided to colour history in her preferred hues.” Last year’s brief military conflict with India — starting from the April 22 Pahalgam attack to the end of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos with a ceasefire between the two countries following the intervention of the United States on May 10 — has been called “Marka-i-Haq” (Battle of Truth) by the state. “To achieve this mutilation of history, Indian content creators have produced a highly dramatised, coloured and factually inaccurate account of so-called Operation Sindoor, packaged as a documentary featuring senior political and military leadership of India,” ISPR said. Operation Sindoor is the term New Delhi used for its strikes on Pakistan on May 7, 2025. “For its lack of nuance and seriousness, the documentary can be c
